United Nations Security Council B Crisis Minutes

The Security Council emergency session has reconvened with the Representative of the Russian Federation calling a failed vote to bring the Observer State of Palestine into the emergency session.
3:00am
Following a plurality of motions calling for the Observer State of Palestine to join the Security Council’s emergency session, a vote was passed to welcome the Representative of Palestine into the session with full debating privileges.
3:05am
The Representatives of Israel has abruptly left the UNSC B emergency session following a heated exchange that defended Palestinian involvement in the session.
3:10am
Further deliberations have begun to debate the plausibility of any ceasefire resolution, when both States involved left the emergency session.
4:19am
Questions have been raised by both the Representatives of the United States and the Russian Federation about each other’s role in obstructing any resolution to the issue at hand. This dialogue has sparked greater, more passionate debate among the Security Council as they work toward a resolution.
5:00am
In a report by the United Nations Secretary-General’s office to the Security Council, it was reported that an Israeli air strike has killed the Chairman of Hezbollah’s Executive Council. The Israeli attack on a housing structure in Beirut has left several more civilians dead, with even more injured after.
As a result of this report, the UNSC B has voted to suspend the emergency session for 30 minutes.

The Security Council’s emergency session has resumed, with the Representatives from Palestine, the Russian Federation and the United States sharing their opinion on the resolution being crafted to address the current crisis.
5:42am
Deliberations in the UNSC B’s emergency session have turned collaborative. A potential resolution—drawing from the previous Israeli-Lebanese ceasefire—has garnered wide support from the Security Council as well as the Representatives of Israel and Lebanon.
5:53am – 3:15am Real Time
Following a series of exhaustive diplomatic efforts that can only be described as inspired, Representatives from the United States, the Russian Federation and the rest of the Security Council found consensus and voted to pass resolutions SC-B/7 and SC-B/8, creating a more sustainable path for peace. These resolutions support Israel and Lebanon’s return to their original ceasefire agreement, simultaneously resolving to prevent the flow into and sale of arms in Lebanon.
The UNSC B’s session has been suspended until 10:00am–now out of emergency status.
