Position paper for Democratic People's Republic of Korea

Committee:GA First
Topic: Reducing space threats through norms, rules and principles of responsible behaviours
Paper text:
The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has recognized the current issue of space threats regarding norms, and principal behaviors. In a brief summary, this issue is best described as Democratic People’s Republic of Korea currently being defensive about their space defenses, for example, our leader Kim Jong Un, at the moment, heavily dislikes United States' proposal of a Golden Dome that could be a trigger of Space Wars and the use of Nuclear Weapons against other countries/ Us. In the latest response Democratic of People’s Republic of Korea has stated that if they messed up or interfered with our Satellites it would be an act of war, allowing us to declare war against whoever interferes with them. Other Nations such as China has jumped into the conversation of the Golden Dome Proposal.
The Golden Dome Proposal, presented by President of the United States, Donald Trump. The golden dome is an Defensive weapon that obstructs completely Peace and Stabilization of the globe as we know it, this Dome’s purpose is for the country of the United States to impede any possible missile, nuclear, airborne attacks on its nation. This plan is in the “U.S First” intervention that the United States Proposes. This plan would impede peace with our nation as we would be forced to find AND develop ways to counter it or penetrate it. China has also joined us in the discussion as Chinese Leader Beijing has disputed they find the Golden Dome as provocations for declaration of war, that it would have strong defense implications and their security should not affect worldwide strategic balance and stability.
What we are mostly concerned about is regarding our Satellites and territories in space, we want to prevent any interference of our space territories by all costs and measures. Any unwanted interference will be taken as an act of war, we only want to continue with peace and balance, any nation making a defense that prevents our use of defenses is a provocation of war. We do not want for anything to be serious but we are serious about our Space and protection. Our Satellites and technologies are only used within our citizens and within our ground territory, we only use it for scientific use and research and in no way is it used for defenders or offense or any other way of military or political use. Ideally we want for everyone to be allowed of Space use. No country should be a breach towards that goal. No nation should be attacking anyone else's satellites and technologies, including the means of a dome that impedes our defenses. If any nation impedes our defense use, we are forced to find ways to counter it, even if it poses risks as a globe united. As a conclusion we will not follow through if the United States does not follow and any other nation. Space shall be used as free space and nobody should interfere with ours.

Committee:GA First
Topic: The illicit trade in small arms and light weapons in all its aspects
Paper text:
The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea affirms its commitment to sovereignty and the right of all states to engage with other states as they see fit, specifically relating to weapons production and transfers. Sovereignty and the international community’s commitment to it is absolutely critical to create and maintain a world of free and independent states.
Over the past several years, the international community, which is dictated solely by the hegemonic United States, has imposed numerous ludicrous sanctions on the DPRK that limit our ability to ensure our national security; they claim it is in response to what they allege are violations of international law and dangerous behavior conducted by the DPRK. This is clearly an attempt to isolate the DPRK, diminish our ability to protect ourselves, and humiliate us. The beginning of this pattern of unfair targeting and punishment began with UNSC Resolution 1718 in 2006, which limited certain legitimate and necessary weapons sales and transfers, and has continued with eight additional UNSC Resolutions which further restricted our ability to ensure our national security.
The DPRK has never engaged in the illicit trade of small arms and light weapons but maintains legitimate weapons productions and transfers that are allowed under international law thus why the sanctions are unwarranted and ludicrous. We subsequently deny any accusations of wrongdoing which have been spread far and wide in an effort to tarnish our reputation and hurt our people.
Our position is that negotiations within this council should focus on how the unfair and unwarranted sanctions placed upon us for ensuring our national security by the Security Council can be fixed. The DPRK stands firmly on the side of sovereignty and the right of every state to ensure its national security in the manner it sees fit.

Committee:GA Second
Topic: Role of the United Nations in promoting development in the context of globalization and interdependence
Paper text:
Today, we must face an undeniable reality: globalization, in its current form, enriches profit while abandoning people. Every corner of this planet bears the scars of exploitation: workers crushed, communities uprooted, cultures erased — all sacrificed to the altar of profit masquerading as growth. And behind this devastation stand a handful of powerful countries and corporations, orchestrating the suffering of billions to preserve their own domination.
The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea declares that genuine development can only be achieved when nations stand independent, self-sufficient, and united in solidarity. Socialism has proven its power to put human needs above corporate greed, and to organize economies not around markets, but around the dignity of labor and the well-being of all.
The United Nations must reject the false illusion that market liberalism brings prosperity. Instead, we demand the building of a new international economic order — one rooted in sovereign equality, collective ownership of resources, and cooperation free from exploitation.
Let us forge a world where development serves humanity itself, the people, and never capital.

Committee:GA Second
Topic: Protection of global climate for present and future generations of humankind
Paper text:
The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea stands before this committee to reaffirm that only a people‑centered, socialist path can confront the root causes of climate destruction. The climate crisis is not a matter confined to science or the environment; it is a profound moral test and a political struggle. It demands the courage to reject profit‑driven exploitation and embrace collective responsibility, a vision the DPRK has long championed.
For centuries, capitalist systems have robbed the Earth in an attempt to steal valuable resources from dwindling countries, only producing the bare minimum output, wasting time, money, and energy. By treating the planet as an abundant commodity and the future of our children as collateral damage, the result is a world of extreme weather, poisoned air, rising seas, and billions left vulnerable.
We affirm that the planet is not a resource to exploit, but a shared inheritance to be cherished and celebrated across generations and nations. Through collective labor, reforestation, and environmental protection, our people have already proven that true progress is achieved not for private gain, but for the collective interest of humanity.
We call on the delegates of each country present today to take responsibility and reject the greenwashing of capitalism, and formulate a new system that would prioritize the people over destructive profit.

Committee:GA Third
Topic: Universal realization of the right of peoples to self-determination
Paper text:
The Democratic People's Republic of North Korea endorses and reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the universal realization of the people's right to self-determination. DPRK was born out of the struggle against colonialism and foreign interference. The Japanese colonial rule (1910-1945) resulted in cultural suppression and economic exploitation of DPRK resources and labor to fuel Japanese imperialism during this period. However, the division resulted in the formation of the Democratic People’s Republic of North Korea under Kim Il-sung.
This raised the people of DPRK to a new era, from hostility to prosperity, ashes to monuments. The Democratic People’s Republic of North Korea views the right to self- determination not merely as a legal principle but as a lived reality for everyone, one that must be defended against Western imperialism, neocolonialism, and hegemonic aggression. DPRK condemns all forms of foreign occupation, forced assimilation, and economic coercion that undermine national sovereignty. It expresses solidarity with the peoples of Palestine, Western Sahara, and other territories whose fight for independence and autonomy remains obstructed.
DPRK asserts that the division of the Korean Peninsula is a direct result of foreign interference and military occupation. It calls for the removal of all foreign troops from rogue southern territories and cessation of hostile policies that condone these practices. The DPRK believes that inhabitants of the Korean peninsula deserve to determine their future without external pressure, through peaceful reunification based on independence and respect.
The DPRK supports and condones the role of the United Nations in promoting self- determination and urges the international community to take action against the states that violate this right. It encourages the strengthening of mechanisms that protect the people from foreign coercion and demands the recognition of emerging states and movements that reflect the will of the people of the respective countries.
The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea stands firmly for the universal realization of the people's right to self-determination. This right is neither negotiable nor subject to the strategic interests of powerful nations. The DPRK calls upon every member to uphold this principle in both word and practice to work toward a world where independence, dignity, and peace are respected.

Committee:GA Third
Topic: Improvement of the situation of women and girls in rural areas
Paper text:
The Democratic People's Republic of North Korea's improvement of the situation of women and girls in rural areas continues to have an upward trend. Rural women and girls globally face significant challenges, including limited access to education, healthcare, and economic resources such as land and credit. Women and girls in rural areas often have a lack of access to adequate health care resources, such as sexual and reproductive healthcare resources. Throughout the years, women’s healthcare has been restricted and heavily regulated throughout the world. Still, North Korea is ahead of its time, making significant improvements and reaffirming that North Korea is a paradise for women.
North Korea’s education for women in rural areas is considered the best type of education, characterized by high levels of education and the instillation of critical thinking, compared to other countries that lack education and have lower IQs, ensuring that North Korea is “paradise on earth”. North Korea is constantly asserting its unwavering achievement regarding gender equality, such as the Law of Sex Equality (1946), which guarantees equal rights for women in all spheres of life, including education, employment, and political representation. This law, among others, is a clear representation of North Korea’s continued uphill climb regarding women and girls in rural areas.
Another example of North Korea’s impeccable job at tackling the worldwide issues of women and girls in rural areas is the public healthcare law, which provides universal access to medical services, including maternal and child healthcare. Many other countries are lagging in their efforts to address this issue. Overall, women around the world are not getting the care and treatment that North Korea is giving to them, which is why we are referred to as “the women's paradise on earth” because North Korea unwaveringly cares for its women and girls in rural areas.

Committee:GA Plenary
Topic: Our ocean, our future, our responsibility
Paper text:
In recent years there have been issues about Nuclear waste being dumped into the Pacific Ocean. The issue was brought up, but was then told it was more of a fishing industry issue and not a safety issue. The issue was brought up in the Pacific Island Forum (PIF). It has been stressed before of the health issues of dumping waste into a specific region that has been on a treaty that is the South Pacific Nuclear Free Zone. The regions are now worried about nuclear waste being dumped into this freezone.
Another thing that the country has been doing to help with the future is that there is an annual thing where the whole country gets together and plants trees. The times when the trees are planted is in Spring and Autumn, or anytime it is suitable to plant trees. With that there has been river improvement and afforestation has been added to combat erosion and pushing ahead to help with protection of the lives and property. These help with combating issues that come with natural disasters that tear down trees like typhoons and floods.

Committee:GA Plenary
Topic: Strengthening of the coordination of emergency humanitarian assistance of the United Nations
Paper text:
Recent years have shown the world how inadequate the system in place to provide humanitarian aid to nations in crisis really is, and how often it is withheld for political purposes. Humanitarian crises, both manmade and naturally occurring, are something that needs to be addressed collaboratively and urgently.
The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea strongly condemns the use of humanitarian aid as a political weapon, as it has in the past by certain nations, and stands by the fact that in order to be more efficient, the United Nations must first adhere to the principles of non- interference in internal affairs, impartiality, and objectivity before any progress can be made.
The DPRK will continue to collaborate with other nations to oppose aggression, interference, imperialism, and domination, as well as continue to strive for international cooperation that goes above differences in ideals. Member States must also come together to ensure that nations that withhold humanitarian aid for political warfare are held accountable, and that at the United Nations, all States must adhere to the aforementioned principles.
