Pakistan and Rwanda Submit a Joint Press Release in HSC-1994

The delegations of Pakistan and Rwanda would like to formally condemn the actions taken by the United Kingdom during the situation in Gorazde. During an ongoing assault on Gorazde, the United Kingdom made the cowardly decision to pull out the last and only means of United Nations connection to the safe zone city, with disregard to the overall effects that this action would have on the body and its ability to maintain oversight, effectively abandoning Bosnian civilians and leaving them vulnerable to Bosnian-Serb forces. These actions were taken without the notification and approval of the Security Council which is of great concern to the delegations of Pakistan and Rwanda. Furthermore, we believe this action was in violation of the United Nations mandate to protect the safe zones as outlined in resolutions 819 and 824.

Additionally, during the extraction process of the British peacekeepers, British forces utilized unnecessary and unauthorized force and fired shots recklessly into the crowd, killing 10 nonviolent, elderly civilians. This does not reflect the values and goals of the United Nations as outlined in the UN Charter; moreover, we find this unacceptable and demand recompense for these incomprehensible acts of violence.
