Dear Fellow Representatives,

In the General Assembly Plenary on the topic, “Our Ocean, Our Future, Our Responsibility,” Nicaragua has one question: what about the turtles? Thus far, we have passed resolutions regulating deep sea mining and are currently voting on preventing plastic pollution in the future. While this is all good and fun, there is no action being taken to preserve and rehabilitate already impacted areas. Perhaps more Member States should consider draft resolution AAA for the sake of the sea! In the end, the turtles are dying, and those Member States who aren’t working to save them will be remembered for their loss.
