Historical Black Colleges and Universities Scholarship

Model UN programs are valuable for every student; they teach through experience by providing opportunities for students to encounter experiences that are not their own. AMUN recognizes the importance of MUN programs, but also recognizes they aren’t always accessible. Their inaccessibility hinders them from building even richer, more meaningful learning experiences. We also recognize the research that has already been done on how MUN programs can benefit HBCUs specifically, and this is why AMUN created our HBCU scholarship. While AMUN’s HBCU scholarship program has existed for a few years, we wanted to take this opportunity to increase advertisement for our scholarship and increase accessibility to our program. We also recognize that MUN can sometimes be cost-prohibitive. In recognition of that we are offering a scholarship for HBCUs to attend AMUN, either in person or with our virtual committee.
Information about our conference costs can be found at this link. Our 2022 Simulations & Topics can be found here.
We are excited to announce our HBCU Scholarship application has officially opened for 2022! Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-serve basis, so apply early! Please apply here. This scholarship covers delegation and per delegate fees. Travel, meals and hotel costs are not included. Our application form will prompt you to provide all information needed for the scholarship. All applicants will be contacted to inform the status of their application. Please note that our minimum requirement to be awarded a scholarship is a minimum of 4 students attending the conference.
If you have a group of students who would like to attend, you can create a class or they can attend as a club. However, if you know individual students, or a small group of students, who would like to attend, you do not have to provide a large delegation. Some schools that currently attend AMUN only bring one or two students, while other schools bring over 20 students each year.
We have two scholarships to offer annually, and you must reapply every year to be considered for the scholarship. Each school applying must have at least four representatives per delegation. We hope to see you either in-person or online in November!
If you have any questions, please email mail@amun.org.
